Seven years of Bibelwelt – Seven years of experience-oriented mediation of the Book of books

Bibelwelt celebrates its seventh anniversary on May 1, at 9:30 a.m. with a thanksgiving service at St. Elisabeth Church (Plainstraße 42, 5020 Salzburg) and at 11:15 a.m. with a special tour of the current special exhibition.

Since 2015, Bibelwelt has expanded from 600 m² to 700 m², creating the conditions for an additional 300 m² of exhibition space. More than 20 volunteers ensure that everything runs smoothly, from the cash desk at Bibelwelt, to guiding the various groups, to accounting for receipts and administrative tasks for the board.

This can be seen in the following figures:

– Visitors: 37,300 , with about 7000 fewer visitors since 2020 due to Covid-19 [im Vergleich mit 2019] )

– Group tours:1165 , with approximately 300 groups likely to have been cancelled since 2020 [im Vergleich mit 2019] due to Covid-19

– Special exhibitions: 12

For its seven-year anniversary, Bible World also wants to learn. She is currently interviewing experts from the fields of museum education, religious education, and biblical theology about their assessment of the Bible World and what they think could be improved. The results will feed into a strategy retreat, which will plan further development steps in July 2022.

The 12th special exhibition “The last days of Jesus – Lenten cribs from all over the world” can be visited during regular opening hours until 6.6.22: Mon, Thu-Sat, 10:00-18:00, Sun and holidays 11:00-18:00, last admission 17:00; Dec 31, 10:00-13:00; closed on Pentecost Sunday.
